Resonance

Privacy Policy

Effective June 3, 2026 · Developer: Ji Weon Chung, operating as Albers Club · Contact: hello@albers.club

Resonance is hybrid by design. The data that is about you — what you read, highlight, note, and look up — is processed on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. Only generic work on a document's text is sent for processing, and even then without your identity.

We do not show ads. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking. We do not sell or share your personal data. We do not build advertising profiles.

1. Data that stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us or any third party:

If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

2. Data processed in the cloud (generic document work only)

Some features process a document's text on a server. When this happens, the request is routed through our proxy and forwarded to the providers below. We send the document text or your query for that feature only — never your name, account, email, device identifiers, or personal reading data. The app authenticates with a shared application token, not anything that identifies you.

FeatureWhat is sentProcessor
Text extraction & chapter cleanupPage/chapter text of the imported documentGoogle (Gemini), via our proxy
OCR (scanned PDFs only)Page images/text of the scanned documentMistral, via our proxy
Summaries, vocabulary, Q&A (when on-device models are unavailable)The text excerpt and your questionGroq (Llama), via our proxy

These processors act on our instructions and are not authorized to use the content to train their models. We do not retain document text beyond what is needed to return a result.

3. iCloud sync (optional, Premium)

If you enable cross-device sync, your personal data syncs across your own devices through Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database), inside your own Apple ID. We do not operate this server and cannot read this data. Sync is off unless you turn it on.

4. Anonymous contribution (optional, off by default)

You may optionally contribute anonymized excerpts of document structure to help us improve how the app cleans and formats books. This is opt-in and off by default; contributions are stripped of identifying information and used only to improve text-handling rules. You can turn it off anytime.

5. Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. We never receive or store your payment details. Apple shares only aggregate, non-identifying information needed to provide your entitlement.

6. Optional API keys

If you enter your own AI-provider key, it is stored only in your device's Keychain and used only for requests you initiate. It is never transmitted to us.

7. What we do not do

8. Children

Resonance is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

9. Retention & deletion

On-device data is removed when you delete the app. iCloud sync data lives in your own iCloud. Anonymous contributions cannot be tied back to you; to stop contributing, turn the setting off. For anything you believe we hold, contact hello@albers.club.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, PIPA, and others), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Because that data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you control most of it directly. For anything else, contact us.

11. International transfers

Our processing providers may process document text on servers outside your country, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes update the effective date and, where appropriate, prompt an in-app notice.
